Traditional Braces
With traditional orthodontics, thin wire is threaded through brackets affixed to teeth. Brackets come in metal, clear, and ceramic. The wire is adjusted to exert gentle, gradual pressure that moves teeth into their ideal positions and corrects misaligned bites. To begin treatment, your dentist will take a dental impression. This model of your teeth will show him exactly where to adhere the brackets and the amount of tension to place on the wire. You’ll come in for monthly progress checks and wire adjustments.
Invisalign Clear Braces
Invisalign uses a series of comfortable, acrylic aligners to reposition teeth. The aligners are nearly invisible, which makes them a popular choice with patients who need to maintain a mature, professional image. They’re removable, too, so you can take them out when you eat a meal and brush your teeth. Using 3D imaging technology, we’ll create a picture of your teeth and jaw, then send it to a certified Invisalign lab to fabricate your clear braces. You’ll wear each set of aligners for two weeks before moving on to the next. Dr. Musso will assess your smile at regular intervals to ensure optimal progress. Treatment times range from 6 to 18 months.
